All Races Welcome

A Message from the Guild

Welcome, Adventurer

Whether you wield a longbow in the mountain passes or command arcane forces from a tower of obsidian stone — your costume tells the world who you truly are at the table.

This booklet is your companion guide to crafting cosplay that honors the spirit of Dungeons & Dragons. Inside you'll find moodboard inspiration, character class build guides, material tips, and a community spotlight from players across the realm.

At DND Dice Roller, we believe the adventure doesn't end when you close the sourcebook. It lives in the cloaks you stitch, the armor you forge, and the characters you breathe into life at conventions, game nights, and campaigns.

Roll high. Look sharp. May your natural 20s be as legendary as your costume.

"The dice decide your fate. Your costume decides your legend."

Visual Inspiration

The Cosplay Moodboard

mascot
DND cosplay moodboard featuring archer, scale armor, embroidered cloak, and dark corset

The world of D&D cosplay spans every archetype — from the battle-worn ranger stringing arrows at dawn to the mysterious rogue armored in shadow and chain. Draw from these visual anchors as you craft your own legend.

Key Elements

Weaponry

Bows, longswords, daggers — prop weapons anchor the character archetype instantly.

🛡

Armor Texture

Scale mail, leather, chain — texture tells your class story before you say a word.

🧵

Embroidery

Gold thread on cream cloth signals nobility, guild rank, or ancient heritage.

💎

Six Rules of Cosplay Craft

Pride D20

Plan Your Character Sheet First

Before buying any materials, build a physical or digital character sheet for your cosplay persona. Define race, class, backstory, and alignment — these details will inform every costume decision, from color palette to prop choices.

02
02

Budget Like a Dungeon Master

Split your budget across four categories: armor & structure (40%), fabric & soft goods (30%), accessories & props (20%), and finishing details (10%). The ratios keep builds coherent and prevent overspending on one element.

03
03

Material Mastery: EVA Foam

1–4mm craft foam is your armor base. Heat-form it with a heat gun, seal with Plasti-Dip, then paint with acrylic. A metallic rub-'n-buff finish over dark paint creates incredibly convincing aged steel at a fraction of the cost.

04
04

Fabric Selection by Class

Rogues thrive in matte velvet and silk organza. Rangers belong in linen, suede, and leather. Paladins need heavy wool broadcloth and faux leather. Wizards call for brocade, velvet, and chiffon overlays printed with arcane patterns.

Convention Durability Checklist

Any piece must survive 10 hours on your feet. Armor should bend at the joints. Nothing should require both hands to hold. Test your full outfit for at least two hours before the event — hotspots, chafing, and loose pieces will reveal themselves.

06
06

Photography & the D20 Moment

Plan one "hero shot" pose for every costume. Research your character's signature move and practice it until it's muscle memory. Bring a small D20 prop — it grounds any D&D cosplay photo and connects you to the dnddiceroller.com brand.
