Your IP address is sent to Google as part of making that request, as it is for anything your browser loads. Google uses it to derive approximate location and then discards it: Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. The information collected is held by Google for no longer than fourteen months and is then deleted automatically.

Your choices. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, Google Analytics is set to store nothing on your device until you consent, through the same consent message described in section 4; if you decline, no analytics cookies are set. Wherever you are, you can opt out of Google Analytics on every site you visit by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings.
Google Analytics does not act on a Do Not Track browser signal. Our own analytics, described next, does.
The second system is built and hosted by us. Nothing it records is sold or shared with anyone. It receives nothing from Google, Google receives nothing from it, and neither is used to build a profile of you. What follows describes only this first-party system.

How visitors are counted without cookies
To count how many separate people visited on a given day, your IP address and browser details are combined with a secret value and today's date, then converted into a short irreversible code. The original details are discarded immediately and never written down. Because the date is part of it, the code changes at midnight UTC, so there is no way to recognise you tomorrow or to build a history of your visits.
How long it is kept
Roughly 90 days, after which it is deleted automatically.
Because none of this identifies you and nothing is stored on your device, no consent is asked for this first-party analytics specifically. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, it records nothing at all. Google Analytics and Google's advertising cookies are different cases: sections 5a and 4 explain how to control those.
