Greetings, adventurers!
As you may have noticed, there has been a lot changing around here. New themes. New features. 3D dice that tumble right across the page. To name a few.
None of it would have been possible without your support. So before anything else, I want to say thank you.
To our Founders
Some of you backed True Randomness when it first launched. You paid for it before anyone knew whether it would work, and that money went straight back into this site. You have my eternal gratitude.
So I've made a page for you. The Donor Hall of Fame is where your names will be etched and celebrated for all time. Every one of you is on it as a Founder, with a star beside your name to prove it. You were here first.
Want your name up there? Add a User Name on your Account page. Leave it blank and you're listed as Anonymous. Your call.
True Randomness is now free. For everyone. Forever.
As a thank you to all of you, True Randomness is now free for every user. No account. No payment. Nothing to unlock.
It's already on. Your rolls now come from the NIST Randomness Beacon, a public source of randomness run by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology. If NIST ever goes down, the roller switches to drand, another public beacon, so you're covered. Prefer something else? There's a dropdown right under the roller to switch between NIST, drand and your own device's Secure Enclave in one click. Every roll names the signed public record it came from, so you never have to take my word for it. Nobody can nudge the numbers. Not me, not anyone. You can check every roll yourself.
Want to keep supporting the site?
If you'd like to keep showing your support, head over to the new Donate page. You can give once, or tick the box for an ongoing monthly donation. Every donor goes up on the Hall of Fame.
Every dollar goes directly back into the future development of this site. That's the whole plan.
About the ads
You may have noticed some different ad banners popping up around the site. I'll be honest with you. If I could get rid of them completely, I would.
Right now, donations don't cover the cost of running this place, so the ads have to stay to keep the lights on. I know they're annoying. I appreciate your patience while I explore other ways to keep the site going.
A word of thanks to Tia
You may also have noticed my friend Tia's name around the site. Over the last year she's been a great sounding board, and some of what you're seeing started with her ideas and advice. Thank you, Tia.
Iron Code Studios
I have a dream. To be free from my normal day-to-day life, and to have the time and freedom to dedicate myself to this site and several other projects I'm passionate about.
So I've registered a small dev business, Iron Code Studios. You can check out our other projects at ironcodestudios.com/projects.
Come say hi
I'm also on X. Follow @dnddiceroller for the latest updates, or to contact me directly. Other social media platforms are coming soon.
Thank you for rolling with us. May your dice roll high.
Arthur
