Looking for one d20?
A d20 is a single twenty-sided die, the one for attacks and checks. It has its own roller. This page rolls twenty dice, six-sided unless you change it: use the stepper to pick fewer.
Twenty dice in D&D
Meteor Swarm, the 9th-level spell, drops four meteors that each deal 20d6 fire damage and 20d6 bludgeoning damage. Roll this page twice: once for fire, once for bludgeoning. A creature caught by more than one meteor is still hit only once.
What 20d6 does
With twenty dice, every 20 dice roll lands close to 70:
| Total | Chance of at least that |
|---|---|
| 60 | 91.5% |
| 65 | 76.3% |
| 70 | 52.6% |
| 75 | 27.9% |
| 80 | 10.8% |
The full range runs 20 to 120, but 83% of rolls land between 60 and 80. Twenty 6s happen about once in 3.7 quadrillion rolls.
Counting hits
In dice pool games you count dice instead of adding them. Twenty dice average 3.3 sixes, and 97.4% of rolls have at least one. For any pool or mix, the dice calculator draws the whole curve.
